Job Summary
The Internal Audit & Control Team Lead is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes across the organization. The role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, internal policies, and operational procedures, with a focus on minimizing financial, operational, and reputational risks within the Company operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan covering core departments such as fleet management, logistics operations, procurement, and finance.
- Conduct regular audits to identify control gaps, assess risks, and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Monitor and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems across the business.
- Design and implement internal controls specific to logistics and haulage operations, including fuel usage, vehicle dispatch, maintenance records, and driver activity tracking.
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports and present findings with practical recommendations to management.
- Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations and ensure timely closure of identified issues.
- Perform periodic risk assessments and work with departments to develop and implement risk mitigation plans.
- Investigate any suspected fraudulent or unethical activities and advise management on fraud prevention strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date audit documentation and records in compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIA) is required.
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, with at least 2 in a leadership/internal control role within the logistics, haulage, or FMCG sector.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, transport/fleet management, and warehouse controls.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in audit tools and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP or fleet tracking systems is an advantage.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple audits simultaneously.
