Job Title: Waiter / Waitress (F&B Attendant)Job Overview

Waiters and Waitresses are the frontline ambassadors of a hotel’s dining outlets (restaurants, bars, room service, or banquets). Their primary role is to provide exceptional, professional dining experiences by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guest satisfaction while adhering to the hotel's service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Service: Welcome and greet guests warmly, present menus, and answer questions about food, beverages, and daily specials.
  • Order Taking & Accuracy: Take accurate food and drink orders, noting specific dietary restrictions or allergies, and enter them correctly into the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Food & Beverage Service: Serve food and drinks promptly and at the correct temperature, following established steps of service (e.g., serving from the right, clearing from the right).
  • Table Maintenance: Keep dining areas clean and organized by clearing empty plates, replenishing water glasses, and replacing cutlery throughout the meal.
  • Upselling: Suggest appetizers, premium drinks, wine pairings, or desserts to enhance the guest experience and maximize restaurant revenue.
  • Billing & Payments: Present accurate bills to guests, process cash, credit card, or room-charge payments accurately, and close checks properly in the POS system.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Setting up tables before service (polishing cutlery, folding napkins, arranging glassware, and setting condiments).
  • Attending the pre-shift briefing with the F&B Manager or Supervisor to learn about the day's menu adjustments, 86'd (unavailable) items, and VIP guests.
  • Guiding guests through the menu by explaining ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Checking back on tables shortly after food delivery to ensure everything is prepared to the guest's satisfaction.
  • Clearing and sanitizing tables immediately after guests depart, and resetting them for the next seating.
  • Completing "side-work" duties at the end of the shift, such as restocking service stations, rolling silverware, or sweeping the floor.

Qualifications & Requirements
Criteria Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Formal hospitality training is a plus.

Experience: 1–6 years of waiting experience (preferred, especially in a hotel or upscale restaurant environment), but entry-level candidates with great attitudes are often considered.

Certifications: Local Food Handler certificate and responsible alcohol service certification (e.g., ServSafe, TIPS), where legally required.

Skills & Abilities:Strong verbal communication, active listening, basic math for handling bills, and the ability to operate POS systems (like Micros or Toast).

Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, carry heavy trays (up to 30 lbs), and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Availability: Flexible schedule to work shifts that include early mornings (breakfast service), late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: ₦60,000.00 - ₦80,000.00 per month
