ABOUT THIS JOB

As the Legal Officer, you will provide legal advisory and ensure compliance across all organisational activities. This role ensures that contracts, partnerships, and operations are legally sound and risk-managed.

You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing agreements, advising on legal matters, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting governance processes. Your role will also involve mitigating risk and protecting the organisation’s legal and strategic interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Legal Advisory & Business Support

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to leadership and internal teams.
  • Interpret laws and regulations in a way that supports business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted legal partner in strategic decision-making.

Contracts & Documentation

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts (vendor, partnership, employment, service agreements, etc.).
  • Ensure all agreements are legally sound and aligned with organisational interests.
  • Maintain and manage a structured contract repository.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Identify legal risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and enforce internal compliance frameworks and policies.

Corporate Governance

  • Support board and executive processes where required.
  • Ensure proper documentation, filings, and regulatory obligations are met.
  • Maintain corporate records and statutory compliance.

Dispute Resolution

  • Manage legal disputes, claims, and litigation processes when necessary.
  • Liaise with external counsel and oversee legal proceedings.
  • Provide risk assessments and resolution strategies.

Policy Development

  • Develop, review, and update internal policies and legal frameworks.
  • Provide training or guidance to teams on compliance and legal best practices.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education

LLB and BL (mandatory).

Experience

  • Minimum 3–6 years post-call legal experience.
  • Experience in corporate, contracts,consulting, or development sectors is an advantage.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong legal drafting and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail.
