I worked in PwC during my IT days and also after service. PwC is a wonderful company to work. They help in career development and advancement. They also provide great benefits to their staff.

Productive workplace with respectable and respectful colleagues

A firm with a culture of respect. Challenging work always keeps you on your toes. You get to work long hours sometimes. You learn a lot in a relatively short time.

too much work for too little pay

it offers a lot of challenging and exciting work and you get to work across multiple industries, however it gets tiring over time and you are forced to work long hours for not enough pay.

General Summary

I just started at PwC in December and my major issue is the lack of work-life balance they have. Although managements have tried to put in place measures to mitigate this, it still is not effective. Compensation is below par when compared to other advisory firms because it is traditionally an accounting firm. However, the company has a strong brand name.

Good for learning, but no life outside work

It's a good very place for the start of an Accounting career. Modest salary compensated through work exposure and training. In the long term, not good enough, if you want a healthy life or intend to raise a family.

Pros

Exposure to the business systems and technology. Collaborative team culture

Cons

No work-life balance, No real coaching after associate grade. You're simply expected to know

overall, its a good place to begin your career and gain solid experience.

PwC is a good place to work, Relatively good benefits but emphasis on solid experience and fantastic brand. Also, relatively good exit opportunities after gaining experience a couple of years.

Pros

Cons

understaffed hence long working hours

PwC is a productive and fun place to work.

Working with different teams and people of diverse backgrounds opens one up to various ideas that would otherwise be out of reach or even taken so long to arrive at. A typical day at work sees you harnessing the team strength while pursuing individual deliverable and target. I learned how to set SMART objectives daily and for each project which helped me in my personal endeavours as well. Management makes staff matters top priority because the company views its staff as its greatest asset. All that is needed is done to ensure comfortable workplace is attained for the staff. This is in addition to an objective Performance feedback and appraisal system in which each staff is expected to appraise him/herself before the line Manager gives his/her own review. The hardest part of the job is working smart and hard to meet lofty objectives one has set for oneself. These objectives usually seem like tall orders and can only be achieved by relying on ones knowledge and application of the firm's soft tools and methodologies, resources and connecting with other staff members beyond the team who have the needed knowledge and skills. It also requires that one is widely-read (on relevant compliance documents and trending discussions on efficiency and effectiveness at work). The most enjoyable part of the job is the team-bonding, business unit meting where individual and team debacles are thrashed out and solutions proffered. The deep thinking culture engendered in individuals also makes working in PwC interesting.

Pros

Leave and year-end bonuses, flexible work hours.

Cons

Long hours.
