Worked here as an intern over the summer. A typical day of work consisted of assisting consultants with their ongoing projects. Learned time management and organisational skills.

PricewaterhouseCooper Nigeria is a multi-national company that breeds young talent and re-imagine the possibilities

I worked in PwC as an intern from the period of 2017 to 2018. I worked in the country management department as an administrative assistant to the country senior partner (CSP) who is also the Regional senior partner (RSP). I like working in the firm because its a one big family with values and we all work together as a team to achieve the organizational objectives. Also, a good work-life balance is embraced in the firm.

Excellent place to work and gain experience

Usually an exciting place to work and learn. Learnt basic accounting and corporate financial skills. Good management and an excellent workplace culture. Though there were times I had to work for more than 24hrs straight without going home for change of clothes due to tight delivery deadlines but at the end of the day, there were excellent service deliveries to clients. The most enjoyable part of the job was that I had to meet with real business men and women and assist them with all their needs.

Pros

Three days relaxation vacation to an outstanding resort In Nigeria, for all staff

Cons

Long hours at work

General Summary

I just started at PwC in December and my major issue is the lack of work-life balance they have. Although managements have tried to put in place measures to mitigate this, it still is not effective. Compensation is below par when compared to other advisory firms because it is traditionally an accounting firm. However, the company has a strong brand name.

It's a productive and fun place to work.

A typical day at work involves relating with colleagues across the organisation providing office administrative support in logistics, travels, repairs, maintenance of facilities, hotel reservations and many more. The ability to relate people from all works of life, respect for one another as well as free access to management. We put ourselves in each other shoes, address each other by first name and treat each other equally. PwC is undoubtedly a great place to work. I enjoy every bit of my work at PwC.

Pros

No free lunches

Cons

One hour break

Great teams to work with, comfortable workplace, but with heavy workload

Risk Assurance-BI Developer A typical day at work: Most of the time--Arrive at client's office at their time of starting a day's work (and unfortunately, some clients' companies are far....). Communicate with clients in the morning or afternoon, and implement the BI application according to the discussed requirements. Go to the client's canteen or cafe nearby for food. Report to senior manager at the end of the day. End work and go back home when the client is about to shut their office's door. Sometimes--Arrive at PwC's office at 10 a.m. Look for a seat maybe if new employees come and occupy the tables. Design and make demos and documents for the next bid, or implement tools for internal use. Report to the senior manager at the end of the day. A lot of the times, literally, about 10 p.m or 11 p.m....Because the workload is heavy and they have strict limitations about how many employees they can hire. What to learned? To deal with priorities under heavy workload, and to communicate with all kinds of clients. Management? I think it depends. I was luck to be in teams with an easy-going senior manager. And he always stays with the team if they need to work overtime, which actually happens a lot....But I've also seen other managers with a big temper that loves to shout at their associates all the time. The company has a full set of internal IT systems for all kinds of activities related to communications and management. Workplace culture: Generally about doing our best to finish the works well and on time. Have a lot of activities all around the year. Sport games,聽-聽

Pros

Free food and taxi for some overtime. Free fruit every Wednesday.

Cons

Heavy workload, and long hours

Productive

A typical day at work involves me interfacing with client personnel and senior management of the companies and me reporting directly to my managing Partner and supervisor. It involves learning about the business of the client understanding business processes, evaluating them and looking for ways to improve them. It also involves detailed review of financial information and interpreting them.

Interesting place to build your career

The period of work is quite seasonal. Work tend to be much at yearend and around the beginning of the year due to regulatory timelines for entities to submit their audited report. People development is fundamental and imperative for management (Partners) and they consciously invest in their employees to represent the brand. The good thing about PwC is that it is a fun place to work for anyone who is willing to go the extra mile.

Productive all inclusive work environment. A great place to work.

PwC is in my opinion, a great place to start a fulfilling career. It provides the opportunity for varied experience - different types of projects, across sectors, interacting with decision makers at large corporations, and lots of good exposure. The global culture is very balanced, encourages diversity and inclusion, as well as respect for the individual. Top management is also very open and accessible, and we are encouraged to share our views. At PwC, there's a lot of emphasis on quality. Expectations are high, and so even the smallest tasks require a good eye for detail. Sometimes the hours may be demanding, but it's usually well worth it in the end. I think the best part are the people. PwC recruits only the best and the brightest, and it shows. Teamwork is emphasised, and at every level there are opportunities to learn and coach others. At PwC, one can readily develop good interpersonal skills and sound technical knowledge.

Pros

Lots of travel

Cons

Sometimes, long hours

Nice place to build up team working skills and make friends

A typical day starts with a visit to client office, reveiw General ledger lines, ensure they are accurately posted and in line with the required accounting standards, make selections on items or samples to test based on materiality, risk or both, request for support documents to corroborate the expense or income. For controls, obtain clients control system review it against the previous years to note any changes, inquire if and why there are changes. Perform a walk-through of the clients control system to validate that they do exist and are actively adhered. report any control lapses and make recommendations on how to mitigate them. Being an auditor, you learn to be more assertive, learn time management, work and manage different personalities. You move around different clients and locations and typically make friends and see new places, have recreational activities to bond with team members. Moving around can sometimes affect work/life balance

Pros

free lunch at client office, travelling, recreational activities

Cons

short breaks, close late
