Wonderful, resourceful and helpful colleagues.

A typical day at work in PwC was very fast paced especially when we were on active audit engagements. Most of this engagements came with very tight deadlines and we had to work not just extra hours, but days also to meet this deadlines. At the end of the engagement there was a huge satisfaction that came with creating value for your client. Some on the job issues were resolved among junior and senior team members, and an appraisal styled feedback was given (Top to down). The most enjoyable part of the job were the audit room interactions and actually finding team members that were interested in the development of each other both personally and technically. The hardest part of the job was maintaining clients and team members who could just never be satisfied. For business continuity purposes, one just had to endure and put up with some unexpected behaviour from clients and some team members to manage the relationship, however this was only on rare occasions.

Pros

Fantastic workplace with the best and brightest (Great learning culture)

Cons

Long hours

Great

Work usually starts at 8. I love what I do and PwC helps me to do what I love to do by enabling staff move to units they want to move to. The hardest part of the job is the late hours sometimes

Nice place to build up team working skills and make friends

A typical day starts with a visit to client office, reveiw General ledger lines, ensure they are accurately posted and in line with the required accounting standards, make selections on items or samples to test based on materiality, risk or both, request for support documents to corroborate the expense or income. For controls, obtain clients control system review it against the previous years to note any changes, inquire if and why there are changes. Perform a walk-through of the clients control system to validate that they do exist and are actively adhered. report any control lapses and make recommendations on how to mitigate them. Being an auditor, you learn to be more assertive, learn time management, work and manage different personalities. You move around different clients and locations and typically make friends and see new places, have recreational activities to bond with team members. Moving around can sometimes affect work/life balance

Pros

free lunch at client office, travelling, recreational activities

Cons

short breaks, close late

Great place to work and expose yourself to various strategic projects

Enjoyed the sheer scale and impact of my day-to-day activities on key projects. The company has an awesome people culture and people didn't make a fuss about their titles. Work with PwC if you are ready to take on challenging, impactful and interesting projects alongside interesting minds.
