Lafarge is a professional company focus on CSR , career development of employees. There is a one-to -one discussions with N+1 that helps to discuss about the career planning and support from the N+1,also gives a chance to get the feedback on performance the work place is stressfull due to its demand, but it is enjoyable. The working hours are flexible

A typical day at work involved drafting and review of contracts (local and international), correspondence and meetings. The workplace culture was friendly and family like. The company management was excellent. The job afforded me the opportunity of acquiring leadership skills, working under minimal supervision, interpersonal skills amongst others.

A Productive company that really believe in meeting up with the target of their customers with high standard. I learnt to be proactive and hard working. The management are friendly and always ready to work along with contractors. Safety is the main culture and core value of the company and no one joke with it. The hardest part of the job is that sometimes people will not open/yield instantly to correction on any of the unsafe acts/conditions notices on site. The enjoyable part of the job is when inducting/orientating people about the company safety rules and regulations.

Increased sales by 40% in a period of 2years not about increase in sales but alongside safely. In a typical day, I fulfill the task of reviewing previous day plant performance, analyzing data, identifying drifts in operating parameters and developing actions to eliminate drifts. Throughout the day, I continuously monitor operations, carry out plant inspections , write technical reports when necessary and provides recommendations. Learn about Process Engineering, waste management and consequently cost optimization. Management communicates changes and decisions that affect employees, also recognizes and rewards company and individual performance. Co-workers exhibit positive attitude towards continuous improvement and respond to challenges without getting angry. The hardest part of the job is having to work late during commissioning after a major plant shutdown, though, shift engineers are available but someone in my group needs to be on call 24/7. Most enjoyable part of the job is running experiments on new products and seeing them work

On the job training gives room for application of standards and in dept knowledge of quick shop floor Root Cause Analysis (RCA) People management is also key to having a perfect day at work. Jobs that has been scheduled and planned through the work order system are used to prepare a perfect day. A perfect day allows one to define key tasks that will be carried out in the course of the day and feedbacks would be given to the senior manager at the close of business so as to help plan for days to come. The hardest part of the job is when there are stoppages not planned for thus, affecting the target set for the day. The most enjoyable part of the job is when being rewarded for saving costs via a project or carrying a repair job within a specified period. Get together parties organised by the top management is also an avenue to spend valuable time with colleagues and families.
