In order to stop developers from leaving, rather than giving better compensation or better career prospects or even better environment, Andela decided it's better to ensure that developers sign a 2 year bond with the company and leaving before this time you would need to pay about $15,000. During this 2 years, you would not even earn close to that amount despite Andela collecting more than $4500 from companies monthly.
It all feels like slavery as the developers (who are really the only source of income for the company) are paid the least in the industry (and even at Andela). These guys have taken advantage of the fact that the unemployment rate in African countries is really high. I find it troubling that companies agree to partner with a company that pays their developers less than $4 an hour
