About the Role

Waje is building the digital home of Nigerian Whot. We are looking for a Brand Manager to own and develop the Waje brand system, including brand positioning, brand storytelling, visual identity, official social media, communities, tournaments, and brand campaigns.

This role is not only responsible for social media operations. The Brand Manager will be responsible for building Waje into the leading digital Whot brand in Nigeria, turning local Whot culture into a recognizable, trusted, and long-term brand asset.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Positioning and Storytelling

Define Waje’s brand positioning and build market recognition that “Waje is the digital home of Nigerian Whot.”

Clarify the relationship between Waje and Whot culture, including Waje’s role in digitalizing, promoting, and tournamentizing Whot in Nigeria.

Develop the Waje brand story, covering the origin of Whot, its growth in Nigeria, its local cultural meaning, and Waje’s role as its digital platform.

Turn the brand story into content for the website, social media, brand videos, KOC scripts, guide content, event materials, and tournament opening videos.

Ensure all brand communication is consistent, localized, and culturally relevant to Nigerian users.

Brand Visual Identity and Brand Assets

Manage Waje’s brand identity, including logo usage, colors, typography, design style, graphic elements, and brand guidelines.

Build visual systems for Waje, Waje Whot Guide, and Waje Whot League.

Review brand consistency across website pages, social media posts, community materials, campaigns, tournaments, and KOC content.

Coordinate key brand assets such as brand videos, posters, tournament visuals, champion posters, leaderboard templates, certificates, trophies, and event materials.

Work with designers, content teams, and external partners to maintain high-quality brand output.

Waje Whot League Brand IP

Own the brand positioning, story, slogan, visual identity, and communication strategy for Waje Whot League.

Build Waje Whot League from a one-time campaign into a long-term tournament IP.

Design the tournament honor system, including champion titles, badges, jerseys, trophies, certificates, leaderboards, and player stories.

Plan communication before, during, and after tournaments, including warm-up, registration, schedules, match highlights, champion interviews, and post-event recaps.

Learn from successful card game, chess, poker, and esports event brands to create a localized sense of honor and ceremony for Nigerian Whot players.

Official Social Media and Community Management

Define the content direction, publishing rhythm, interaction tone, and DM handling standards for Waje’s official social media accounts.

Manage the positioning, rules, welcome messages, announcements, activity rhythm, and risk-handling process for official WhatsApp and Telegram communities.

Review monthly content plans and key campaign plans for public and private channels.

Monitor and handle brand risks, including negative comments, user complaints, fake customer service accounts, scam accounts, misleading information, and community issues.

Regularly review performance data from official accounts and communities, and propose optimization plans.

Cross-Functional Project Management

Act as the owner or core participant for projects such as SEO/GEO, brand videos, Waje Whot League, brand campaigns, and major content initiatives.

Provide clear requirements to content teams for brand materials, social media assets, guide content, tournament content, and KOC material packages.

Work with media teams on KOC cooperation, external resource partnerships, brand messaging, and material standards.

Work with growth teams on official accounts, communities, campaign registration, website traffic, guide-site traffic, and attributable conversion.

Work with customer service, risk control, finance, and compliance teams to handle user complaints, payment concerns, abnormal accounts, and brand-related risks.

Compliance and Brand Risk

Establish brand communication standards, including 18+, Responsible Gaming, no income guarantees, no misleading claims, and no targeting of minors.

Review brand campaigns, official content, community content, events, and tournament materials for compliance risks.

Build a list of high-risk phrases and standard official responses.

Escalate major public opinion issues, user complaints, fake customer service accounts, scam information, and non-compliant communication.

Take ownership of major brand-related principle and reputation issues.

Requirements

3–5+ years of experience in brand marketing, brand management, content strategy, or community growth, preferably in gaming, entertainment, sports, fintech, or digital platforms.

Strong brand-building and storytelling skills, with experience developing brand positioning, messaging frameworks, campaigns, and culturally relevant content that drives awareness and engagement.

Experience managing social media, online communities, and brand campaigns, including content planning is a plus.

Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities, with a track record of working effectively with external partners to execute brand initiatives.

Deep understanding of Nigerian culture and consumer behavior, with the ability to translate local traditions, communities, and entertainment trends into compelling brand experiences while maintaining responsible communication standards.
