Job summary

The Business Development (BD) Capture Specialist leads early‑stage opportunity positioning and capture activities for priority contracts and grants. The role focuses on identifying high‑value opportunities, shaping capture strategies, supporting donor and partner engagement, and coordinating internal inputs to convert pipeline opportunities into competitive bids. Working closely with technical, finance, and leadership teams, the BD Capture Specialist strengthens Sydani’s ability to win complex, multi‑partner, donor‑funded opportunities, including those funded by multilateral, bilateral, and global health donors.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Track and identify strategic opportunities across priority donors, conduct initial opportunity screening and Go/No-Go analysis.
  • Lead the development of capture plans for priority opportunities, including win themes and positioning, market and funder landscape and competitor analysis that are aligned with Sydani’s strategic priorities
  • Reach C-level decision-makers through high-level strategic engagements, meetings, industry events, and key referrals to promote Sydani aligned business priorities
  • Support in defining Sydani’s value proposition and competitive differentiation
  • Identify, assess, and engage strategic partners (INGOs, consulting firms, local organizations) whose competitive expertise can be leveraged on to win bids
  • Coordinate partner negotiations and ensure alignment on roles and expectations
  • Support the development of consortium structures and teaming agreements
  • Ensure Sydani is fully prepared ahead of solicitation release, through pre-identified partners and drafting technical approaches/ strategy
  • Support strategic engagement with funders and clients (where appropriate)
  • Support smooth transition from capture to proposal development phase
  • Coordinate across internal teams (technical, finance, MEAL, HR)
  • Support the development and implementation of a business development strategy aligned with the organization’s growth objectives
  • Track and report on pipeline performance, conversion rates, and revenue generated.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business development, Business Administration, Marketing, or relevant field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, proposal development, sales, strategic partnerships or program management in international development
  • Proven experience working with institutional donors such as World Bank, USAID, Global Fund etc as well as private sector funders.
  • Experience supporting or leading capture efforts for competitive proposals
  • Strong understanding of donor procurement processes
  • Established client relationships with top-tier funders with a proven track record of converting those relationships into business opportunities
