Job Description (JD)Position: Virtual K-12 Tutor (Mathematics, Science & English Subjects)Job Summary

We are seeking passionate and experienced Virtual Tutors to provide high-quality online academic support to K-12 students following the US curriculum. The ideal candidate should have strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver engaging, interactive, and personalized virtual learning experiences for students across different grade levels.

The tutor will be responsible for helping students improve academic performance, build confidence, and develop strong foundational knowledge in their respective subjects through structured online lessons.

Key Responsibilities1. Virtual Teaching & Lesson Delivery

• Conduct engaging one-on-one and group virtual tutoring sessions for K-12 students.
• Deliver lessons aligned with the US curriculum standards and learning objectives.
• Explain complex concepts in a simple, age-appropriate, and understandable manner.
• Adapt teaching methods based on individual student learning needs and abilities.
• Use interactive tools, examples, and practical applications to improve student understanding.

2. Subject Instruction & Academic Support

Mathematics Tutor

• Teach K-12 Mathematics, including:
• Elementary, Middle School, and High School Mathematics
• Algebra
• Geometry
• Trigonometry
• Calculus (where applicable)
• Other advanced math topics
• Provide support in problem-solving, reasoning, and mathematical application.

Science Tutor

• Teach major science subjects including:
• Physics
• Organic & Inorganic Chemistry
• Biology
• Support students with scientific concepts, experiments, calculations, and exam preparation.

English & Humanities Tutor

• Teach:
• English Language
• Literature
• Social Studies
• History
• Support students with reading comprehension, writing skills, critical thinking, essay development, and analysis.

3. Student Assessment & Progress Tracking

• Evaluate students’ academic strengths and areas requiring improvement.
• Prepare learning plans based on student goals and curriculum requirements.
• Track student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians where required.
• Recommend additional learning resources, assignments, and practice activities.

4. Student Engagement & Learning Experience

• Create a positive, encouraging, and supportive virtual learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with students to improve motivation and confidence.
• Encourage curiosity, independent learning, and academic growth.
• Maintain professionalism and patience when working with children.

5. Lesson Preparation & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare lesson materials, presentations, exercises, and assessments.
• Stay updated with US curriculum changes, teaching approaches, and educational resources.
• Continuously improve virtual teaching techniques and student engagement methods.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Education, Mathematics, Sciences, English, or related fields preferred.
• Proven experience tutoring or teaching K-12 students.
• Strong understanding of the US education curriculum (Common Core, NGSS, or equivalent).
• Strong subject expertise in at least one of the following areas:

STEM Track

• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry (Organic & Inorganic)
• Biology

English & Humanities Track

• English Language
• Literature
• Social Studies
• History
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
• Strong classroom management skills in a virtual environment.
• Comfortable using online learning platforms and digital teaching tools.

Preferred Experience

• Experience teaching students from different learning levels (Elementary, Middle School, High School).
• Experience preparing students for assessments, exams, and academic competitions.
• Familiarity with US standardized tests and academic expectations is an advantage.

Pay: ₦5,500.00 per hour
