JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Head of Finance
Department: Finance and Accounts
Reporting to: Executive Director
Location: Ikeja, Lagos State
Salary: 1.5 - 2-5 Million (Monthly Net)
Job Summary:
The Head of Finance will play a critical role in steering the financial and strategic direction of the organization.
As a senior leadership position, the candidate will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the finance department, ensuring the organization’s financial health, and leading business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop, implement and oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, risk management, and reporting.
- Provide the directors an expert counsel on financial strategy to the executive team, aligning both short-term and long-term goals with the organisation objectives.
- Lead capital structuring and funding strategies.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate overall corporate strategy with top management and managers of business units with emphasis on profitability, capital investment, good corporate governance to enhancing company’s corporate value.
- Business Development and Growth
- Lead commercial insight efforts, identifying growth opportunities to exceed business plan targets and drive profitability.
- Design and implement financial strategies that support the organization’s expansion and business development goals.
- Spearhead initiatives to identify new revenue streams and enhance financial performance.
- Financial Analysis and Planning
- Present reports with key financial metrics, variance analysis, and actionable insights for management.
- Present financial performance and KPIs to the Board of directors.
- Ensure that finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Accounting Principles.
- Oversee complete Finance and Accounts activities, monthly financial consolidation, Budgeting, Risk Management, and internal Controls.
- Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Establish guidelines for annual & periodic budgets. Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets.
- Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with Group strategic plan.
- Monitor the use of all funds to ensure it is in accordance with budgetary goals.
- Assess Organizational performance against the budget and long-term strategic objectives.
- Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Balance short-term financial concerns and pressures, such as managing cash flow/ liquidity, profitability, in line with long-term vision and sustainable organizational success.
- Collaborate with banks, financial institutions, and advisors to strengthen the firm’s financial position and expand access to growth capital.
- Oversee capital allocation, liquidity, and cash flow to ensure optimal deployment of financial resources across the firm’s portfolios and operations.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Share strategic leadership responsibilities with other senior management team and ensuring the finance/account function supports the business at a strategic and operational level.
- Supervise daily Financial and Accounting activities to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are strictly followed by all units.
- Promote accountability and performance culture between the departments.
- Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Assure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities and regulators.
- Oversee internal and external audit processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional certification (ICAN/ ACA/ ACCA/ CPA/ CMA)
- 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance, with a strong focus on financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Strong experience in Manufacturing is an added advantage.
- Strong experience in a managerial capacity.
- Proficiency in financial management software (mainly SAP, Tally, Microsoft Dynamics, ODOO..)
- Deep understanding of Nigerian tax regulations, statutory compliance, and financial reporting standards.
- High integrity and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong business acumen and ability to influence at executive and board levels.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also important.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to details.
