JOB SUMMARY:

A Health & Safety Personnel Officer is responsible for maintaining workplace health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring employees comply with safety policies and applicable regulations.

SALARY: 200,000-250,000

LOCATION: SAPELE, DELTA STATE

REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum of HND/BSC in Health Science, Environmental Health Science, Public Health or related field.

- Basic / Advanced Life support, emergency / Trauma care

- BOSIET/FOET or appropriate offshore survival training

- HUET( Helicopter underwater escape training), where required .

- STCW training if working aboard vessels

- Medical fitness assessment

- HSE/OHS certifications

- infection prevention and control

- Maritime/offshore emergency response.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintain and inspect the medical clinic / first-aid station. Ensure adequate medicines, medical equipment and emergency supplies.

- Participate in emergency drills, including medevac ad mass-casualty drills.

- Offshore Environmental health: Monitor potable water, food hygiene and sanitation. Help prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases among crew/workers.

- Provide health education on hydration, nutrition, sleep and personal hygiene.

- Keep accurate medical records, Document accidents, injuries, treatments and occupational illness. Prepare medical reports and contribute to incident investigations.

- Emergency Medical care: Treat injuries, trauma, burns, fractures, cuts and other emergencies. Stabilize critically ill or injured workers before evacuation.

- Manage medical emergencies such as asthma attacks, seizures, cardiac problems and severe allergic reactions.

- Conduct pre-employment and periodic medical assessments. Assess workers' fitness for offshore/waterway duties. Monitor occupational illnesses and injuries.

- Determine when a worker needs evacuation from an offshore location or vessel.

- Coordinate with shore-based hospitals, emergency services and medical evacuation teams.
