The Role

We are seeking Medical Officers to apply medical knowledge and skills in the diagnosis, disease prevention and treatment of patients, serving as the first point of clinical contact and working closely with consultants and specialists.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-point-of-contact care: clerk all new cases, take history, examine patients and make a diagnosis/provisional diagnosis of illnesses and injuries promptly
• Provide preventative and acute care; refer to specialists as indicated and coordinate their participation in patient treatment
• Promptly inform the supervisor on duty of all problems, including new cases, deterioration in patients' condition, and potential medico-legal cases (assaults, accidents, poisonings)
• Stabilise patients with trauma or acute illness, conducting procedures that alleviate the medical crisis and prepare the patient for further treatment
• Carry out procedures under supervision, in line with medical privileges granted
• Maintain complete, accurate documentation of patient encounters
• Report incidents promptly and manage patient grievances
• Provide health education and support to patients and their families
• Liaise with medical and non-medical staff to ensure quality patient care; maintain confidentiality and impartiality
• Comply with Standard Operating Procedures, quality standards and clinical practice guidelines
• Participate in departmental quality improvement projects; other duties as assigned

Requirements

• MBBS or its equivalent
• Completed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) — mandatory
• Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and a valid medical practising licence — mandatory
• 1–2 years post-NYSC experience desirable
• ACLS/ATLS certification; a Master's degree in a healthcare-related field an added advantage
• Triage, BLS and appropriate procedural skills (including intubation, resuscitation and invasive monitoring)
• Strong clinical acumen and diagnostic skills; leadership ability
• Attention to detail; self-motivated, able to multitask and work under pressure; diligent, honest and reliable; good interpersonal and communication skills

Work Schedule

Shift-based per the department's duty schedule: Day shift (8:00am–5:00pm) and Night shift (5:00pm–8:00am).

Pay: ₦5,769,665.52 per year

Education:

• Master's (Preferred)

Experience:

• NYSC: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• National Youth Service Corps (Required)
• Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (Required)
• Medical Practicing License (Required)
