Responsibilities:

• Andrology & Fertility Diagnostics: Perform specialised reproductive and fertility-related testing, including comprehensive semen analysis (concentration, motility, morphology, and viability), sperm preparation for ART/IUI, hormonal assays (FSH, LH, Prolactin, Estradiol, AMH, Progesterone), and clinical chemistry tests.
• General Clinical Pathology: Conduct haematology assays (Full Blood Count, blood grouping, serology) and microbiological investigations to support patient diagnostic pathways.
• Sample Lifecycle Management: Collect, process, analyse, and validate patient biological samples with strict adherence to identification protocols, ensuring zero mix-ups—a vital standard in fertility care.
• Equipment & Quality Control: Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex laboratory instrumentation, performing daily Quality Control (QC) checks and maintaining detailed equipment logs.
• Clinical Collaboration: Partner closely with fertility specialists, reproductive endocrinologists, embryologists, and nursing staff to align diagnostic insights with ongoing treatment cycles.
• Data Integrity & Confidentiality: Accurately document, enter, and report laboratory results via Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) while strictly preserving patient privacy and medical data confidentiality.
• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain rigorous laboratory safety, biosecurity, and hygiene standards in full compliance with institutional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ISO standards, and relevant regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent degree.
• Valid and current practicing license with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
• Proven hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting; direct working experience in an IVF or fertility clinic environment is a major advantage.
• Exceptional attention to detail and high competency in specimen tracking and data integrity.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

• Diagnostic Precision & Accuracy: Produce reliable, validated, and error-free laboratory results, with special emphasis on critical fertility metrics and hormonal assays.
• Turnaround Time (TAT): Deliver diagnostic and andrology results promptly within strict clinical timelines to prevent delays in time-sensitive fertility treatment cycles.
• Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain rigorous internal and external QC standards, strictly adhering to SOPs and accreditation requirements.
• Sample Integrity & Management: Ensure flawless specimen tracking, minimizing sample errors, cross-contamination, pre-analytical rejections, and mislabeling risks.
• Equipment Upkeep & Reliability: Ensure optimal performance, regular calibration, and preventative maintenance of all laboratory machinery to eliminate unexpected downtime.
• Documentation & Data Accuracy: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date physical and digital laboratory records and audit trails.
• Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Foster seamless operational synergy with doctors, embryologists, nurses, and support staff to optimize the patient experience.
• Continuous Professional Development: Actively participate in clinical training, competency assessments, and continuous education programs to stay current with reproductive medicine advancements.
• Annual update and renewal of professional license.
