HIRING: LABORATORY TECHNICIAN MANAGER
Location: Ilorin, Kwara State
Salary: ₦300,000 – ₦600,000 monthly
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician Manager to oversee laboratory operations, testing procedures, quality control, equipment management, and team supervision within an aquaculture or biological testing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee laboratory testing, sample management, data accuracy, documentation, and quality control.
- Investigate unusual or out-of-specification results before reporting.
- Manage laboratory equipment, reagents, consumables, calibration, maintenance, and inventory.
- Ensure proper reagent preparation, storage, expiry monitoring, and safe disposal.
- Supervise, train, and develop laboratory technicians and assistants.
- Enforce laboratory safety standards, chemical handling procedures, PPE, and incident reporting.
- Collaborate with veterinary, hatchery, broodstock, research, and other operational teams.
- Drive improvements in testing methods, turnaround time, reporting, and laboratory efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Biological Sciences, Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience managing or supervising a laboratory in aquaculture, animal health, food, environmental, or biological testing.
- Practical experience in water-quality analysis, microbiology, microscopy, sample management, and laboratory quality control.
- Experience in fish-health diagnostics, pathology, or hatchery operations is strongly preferred.
- A postgraduate qualification in Aquatic Animal Health, Microbiology, Pathology, Water Quality, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
