Position: Accountant

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Work Mode: Full-Time, On-Site

Reports To: MD / CEO

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant.

Reporting directly to the MD/CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, financial controls, project accounting, and general accounting operations. This role is critical to ensuring the financial health, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency of the organization while providing management with accurate financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Proposed Salary: ₦400,000 – ₦500,000 Gross Monthly (Based on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Prepare management accounts and financial statements.
• Monitor cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.
• Reconcile bank statements and company accounts.

Budgeting & Cost Control

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and investigate budget variances.
• Track project costs and ensure proper allocation of expenses.
• Provide recommendations for cost optimization and financial efficiency.

Taxation & Compliance

• Prepare and file statutory tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities when required.
• Support internal and external audit processes.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Review and process invoices, vendor payments, and reimbursements.
• Maintain accurate records of debtors and creditors.

Project Accounting & Financial Analysis

• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance.
• Prepare project-specific financial reports and analyses.
• Support project managers with financial planning, cost tracking, and budget monitoring.
• Ensure accurate documentation of project-related financial transactions.
• Track project profitability and provide financial insights to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years relevant accounting experience, preferably within project-based organizations, engineering, construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, or related sectors.

Project Accounting Experience: Mandatory experience in project accounting, project budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.

Professional Certification: ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or other relevant accounting certifications will be an added advantage.

Postgraduate Qualification: A Master's Degree or relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience using accounting software and financial management systems.
• Knowledge of international trade and trade banking operations will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₦400,000.00 - ₦500,000.00 per month
