About Us
We believe every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential — and that strong foundations in literacy and numeracy are where this begins.
EIDU partners with governments to strengthen public education systems at scale. Our technology-enabled platform integrates proven educational interventions and supports learners, teachers, education officers, and ministry staff within national systems.
Today, we work with 41 governments and will reach 1,000,000 active students across Kenya and Nigeria in 2026. We have doubled our learner numbers each year over the last five years and aim to reach tens of millions more. A randomized controlled trial found a 0.53 standard deviation improvement in learning outcomes — placing EIDU among the top 10% of education interventions in low- and middle-income countries.
We combine analytical rigor, entrepreneurial drive, and disciplined execution. As we scale, we are building an organization capable of turning strategy into measurable impact at national scale.
EIDU is funded by governments, leading development agencies and foundations.
About the role
We are looking for a Government Relations Officer who will be responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with government stakeholders at the national and sub-national levels, ensuring that EIDU’s programmes are implemented smoothly and remain aligned with government priorities and expectations.
This role will be based in Abuja, Oyo or Katsina with frequent travel across Nigeria.
What you will do:
- The Government Relations Officer will be responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with federal and state government stakeholders, ensuring that EIDU’s programmes are implemented smoothly and remain aligned with government priorities and expectations.
- The role includes ongoing relationship management with key decision-makers and technical counterparts across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. The Officer will serve as the primary liaison between EIDU and government partners, proactively addressing issues, managing expectations, and ensuring consistent communication and reporting.
- The Officer will oversee contract compliance and performance monitoring, ensuring that programme delivery meets agreed objectives, timelines, and quality standards. This includes tracking implementation progress, identifying and mitigating risks, coordinating with internal teams to resolve bottlenecks, and supporting joint review meetings.
- The role also covers financial and administrative coordination with government counterparts, including submission and tracking of invoices, monitoring payment processes, following up on outstanding receivables, and ensuring proper documentation in line with contractual requirements.
- In addition, the Government Relations Officer will support risk management by identifying political, operational, and reputational risks; advising internal teams on stakeholder sensitivities; and developing mitigation strategies to safeguard partnerships and programme continuity.
- Overall, the role is central to sustaining government trust, securing renewals and expansions, and ensuring EIDU’s work delivers impact while strengthening long-term institutional relationships in Nigeria.
What you should bring:
- The desire to use your skills to bring about positive social change for children across the world.
- Comfortable working in an agile and hybrid startup environment, embracing change with a flexible and solution-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering inclusive and respectful communication in both local and global settings.
- Understands the complexities of working with people in multiple locations (both in-person and virtually).
- The ability and willingness to frequently travel across Nigeria.
- Great interpersonal skills to collaborate with people at all levels of the organisation. Interested in contributing to others' success.
- Ability to work autonomously and reliably and have end-to-end project ownership.
- Excellent verbal and superior writing and report presentation skills.
- A strong proficiency with Calendars, Document management, Spreadsheets and Analyses.
- Can plan and conduct complex and sensitive administrative and operational duties.
- Experience working in or with government agencies is strongly preferred.
- In depth experience building and systematically managing key complex relationships and accounts to ensure program delivery in a complex, multi-stakeholder program or project.
- Previous experience working on program delivery, preferred.
- Confidence, authority, and level-headed decision making.
- A blend across business and political acumen, but also high emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills.
- Highly capable and thoughtful problem-solving skills; able to act as an intermediary and a solutions driven lead, to ensure effective collaboration and communication between the Government client and our organization.
What we offer:
- Work with a smart and ambitious team based in Kenya, Nigeria, and Germany directly contributing to solving the global learning crisis.
- A healthy work-life balance with flexible hours, an async-friendly culture that respects personal time and autonomy, and a hybrid setup.
- A financial runway that ensures you have the security and resources you need to excel
- An open environment where feedback is welcomed promoting mutual growth.
