EchoVC is seeking a Director of Finance & Administration to lead the organization’s Finance team. The ideal candidate will be a chartered accountant with 5+ years of work experience in Accounting, Finance, Budget & Planning and/or Audit & Assurance. The person in this role will work closely with all team members and report directly to the firm’s General Partner.

Responsibilities:


Strategy & Management:

Drive the strategy implementation process of EchoVC and work with the Director of Portfolio Operations to support our portfolio companies.

Oversee the operations of the firm’s accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.

Dotted-line oversee the accounting operations of portfolio companies, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures

Represent and report the organization’s progress on strategic goals to external shareholders

Support the fundraising processes of the firm

Treasury Management:

Manage cashflow projections to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements

Manage cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment

Mitigation of financial risks related to forex volatility on the Fund's investments

Investment of outstanding funds

Transactions:

Manage Accounts Payables & Receivables

Monthly Bank Reconciliations

Maintain accounting filing system with the chart of Accounts.

Ensure a system of controls over accounting transactions

Compliance:

Coordinate and communicate with (i) external auditors for the annual audit and (ii) fund administrators for FATCA and other filings

Ensure compliance of all regulatory reporting requirements (either Local, State or Federal) and tax filings

Monitor debt levels and compliance with covenants

Preparing the management report for noted weaknesses in internal controls and making recommendations to the Portfolio companies management of ways of improving the internal processes.

Work with the funds administrator to ensure appropriate compliance

Reporting:

Issue timely and complete financial statements

Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of Fund operations

Responsible for the annual budget and forecasts

Human Resources:

Manage the firm’s performance and staff career management processes.

Develop and manage the performance management system for staff

Payroll

Investor Relations:

Work to support the firm’s investor relations and fundraising activities. These activities include coordinating a database of institutional asset managers and managing all other teams to create the required materials which address potential investors’ inquiries.

Administration:

Responsible for overseeing general administrative activities for EchoVC.

Responsible for the selection and oversight of third-party benefits providers.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience at a top-tier financial/venture capital organization with significant experience working in Accounting, Finance, Budget & Planning and/or Audit & Assurance

Chartered Accountant

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Long-term interest in building a career in private equity/venture capital, or in a larger investment management or professional services organization.

Ability to be effective in a close-knit (<10 person), consensus-driven organization.

An entrepreneurial mindset, which includes having flexibility and interest in taking on a variety of tasks to support the firm’s growth.
