Company

SOI Foundation is a social enterprise that combines skills development, entrepreneurial thinking, and technology to address employment challenges. From 2024 onward, the organization is focused on advancing United Nations SDG 8 by promoting decent, sustainable, and meaningful work for all. SOI Foundation creates opportunities for youths and women as rural researchers, volunteers, micro‑entrepreneurs, and local program implementation associates, in collaboration with both for‑profit and nonprofit partners. The multidisciplinary, fully remote team based across Nigeria and the UK fosters an inclusive culture and flexible working environment. The foundation is committed to partnering with individuals and organizations to expand access to employment globally.

Role Description Global Career Mentors will support individuals, particularly youths and women, in exploring career paths, building employability skills, and identifying income‑generating opportunities. In this volunteer, fully remote role, mentors will conduct virtual mentoring sessions, provide guidance on CV/resume development, interview preparation, and professional communication, and share insights on emerging job markets and entrepreneurship. Day‑to‑day tasks include creating simple learning resources, offering feedback on career plans, collaborating with other team members to align mentoring with local programs, and documenting progress and outcomes. Mentors may also contribute to online workshops, community events, and partnerships that advance the foundation’s mission of decent and meaningful employment for all.

Qualifications

  • Strong mentoring, coaching, or advising skills, with the ability to support diverse individuals in career planning and skills development.
  • Experience or interest in employment services, human resources, education, youth development, or entrepreneurship.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication in English and active listening.
  • Comfort with remote work tools and digital platforms for video calls, collaboration, and document sharing.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, gender equality, and empowerment of underrepresented groups.
  • Prior experience working across cultures or in international contexts is an advantage.
  • Relevant academic background or professional qualifications in career counseling, social sciences, business, education, or related fields are beneficial but not mandatory.
